Getting Started With Your Broadband

TG789 v2

Installing your router

Step 1

Find the best site to place your router inside your house. For best performance, choose an open space site, avoid sun exposure, and try not to place it near other electronic devices (PC, tv, radios, etc). Try to install it next to a power plug and the main telephone or fiber line plug of your home.

Step 2

Depending on the connection technology of your service, it is possible to receive a terminal in addition to the router.

2.A If you received a router and a terminal:

  • Connect the green or gray port of the terminal (the color depends on the terminal type), to the telephone or fiber line plug using the cable found inside the terminal’s box.
  • Connect the terminal to the power line using the power cable.
  • Connect the terminal’s yellow port to the router’s red WAN port, by using the Ethernet cable found inside the router’s box.
  • Press ΟΝ button at the terminal.

2.B If you received a router only:

Just connect the router’s DSL port to the main telephone line using the gray telephone cable (inside the router’s box).

Note: You don’t have to connect the splitter (inside the router’s box), if not asked from the system integrator installing the service at your place.

Step 3

Connect the router to the power line using the power cable. Press button to turn it on.

Step 4

You can connect up to 2 telephone devices to the router’s telephone (green) ports. The first time it may take a few moments in order you to be able to use them.
If you use wireless telephone devices (ex. DECT), make sure to keep them connected to the power line.

Step 5

  • To connect wired, connect the Ethernet port of your device to the (red) Gigabit Ethernet port (if not available you can use any other (yellow) Ethernet ports) of the router, using the (yellow) Ethernet cable (inside the router’s box).
  • To connect wireless, search from your device for the available wireless networks, and choose the one with the “Network Name” that you will find at the label at the back of your device, and when asked type in the matching “Wireless key”. The Network Name, looks like:
    • i. WIND_2.4G_###### for WiFi devices that support 2,4GHz wireless connection
    • ii. WIND_5G_###### for WiFi devices that support 5GHz wireless/ac connection

If your device supports 5GHz connection, it is suggested to choose Network Name “WIND_5G_######”.

  • To connect through WPS, keep pressing the button at the side of the router for a few seconds. Within the next 2 minutes you can connect your device according to your manufacturer manual.

Router light indicators

Wait for a few seconds for the router’s light indicators to stabilize and check them.
You can check the proper operation by watching the lights on the device. The green lights state a proper operation.

  • a) “Power” indicator – power supply – should be green and stable
  • b) “Line” Indicator should be green and stable
  • c) “Internet” indicator – access to the internet- should be green
  • d) “Wireless Network (WiFi)” indicators should be green (at least one)
  • e) “WPS” indicator, should be green

If the light indications are different, router settings may need changes.
