Running not only exercises the body and spirit, but it makes us happier. According to new research, however, the pleasure derived from this sport, comes from the road.
That's because, according to German researchers, running is one of the most enjoyable forms of exercise, especially when performed outdoors (not in the treadmills of a gym). So the joy of sports, this unique sense of excitement experienced mainly after running, is due to substances secreted in the brain that resemble natural opiates which create a pleasant mood to the runner, immediately after the exercise.
These substances, combined with the new images captured by the brain when running outdoors (parks, squares, streets, etc.), take the runners mood to a new level that cannot be compared to exercising indoors.
